TRANSPORT SYSTEM
By the end of the lesson the students should be able to
1. State the needs for transportation.
2. Materials for transportation in plants
Transport system
Transport system can be defined as the movement of metabolic materials from the parts where they are produced to the Points where they are stored and used up.
Needs for transportation
1. For movement of hormones in plants
from areas where they are needed.
2. To eject metabolic waste products
like Co2.
3.For movement of glucose to various
plant parts.
4. To provide essential materials
required by cells for metabolic
activities.
Materials required For
Transportation in Animals.
1. This includes oxygen, carbon dioxide,
amino acids, excess salt, sugars,
vitamins, nitogenous waste.
Structures of Arteries and veins
Arteries are blood vessels which Aida in blood carriage away from the heart.
Capillaries: it forms an intermediary between the arteries and the veins.
Veins: it aids in the carriage of blood
from the body to the heart.
Differences Between Arteries and
Veins
1. Arteries have elastic walls, while veins
have non elastic walls.
2. Blood present in arteries is pink while
that in veins is dark red.
3. It carries oxygenated blood while
veins carries deoxygenated blood.
Class work
1. What is digestion.
2. State two needs of transportation in
animals.
Assignment
1. State four differences between
arteries and veins.
